Rising Star Award

Nominations for 2026 accepted September 8 - November 13, 2025.

Do you know an emerging talent who's shaking things up in the live entertainment world? Now's your chance to propel them into the spotlight! Nominate them for the USITT Rising Star Award and help their career soar to new heights!

The Rising Star Award, sponsored by LDI/Live Design, is given annually to a young professional at the beginning of their career. This award not only recognizes the work of our winners but also gives them a leg up in the networking game by granting them a free year of USITT Membership and complimentary registration to our Annual Conference & Stage Expo! While there, they'll be presented with their award as part of our Awards Ceremony on the main stage and invited to an award luncheon to meet our other 2024 award winners. We'll also feature them on USITT's podcast, TECHnically Speaking, and on our USITT socials, so all of our Members can celebrate their work! In addition to all of that spotlight, our Rising Star will receive a $2,000 reward to help further their professional development and ease the stress of that early career climb we've all been through.

Know a standout artist or innovator who deserves this spotlight? Don’t wait—nominate them today and help us celebrate and elevate the industry's next big artist!

The award recognizes excellence and artistic achievement in:

  • Scenic Design
  • Lighting Design
  • Sound Design
  • Projection Design
  • Convergence of these design disciplines

"I am honored to receive the Rising Star Award from USITT, Live Design, and LDI. I owe my work on the cutting edge of the entertainment industry - at the intersection of art and technology - to the unique theatrical training I received."
